BOWIEEEEEEEEEEEEE!! This little character turned one this month. Hooray!! Bowie Swan is just a little firecracker! I was so happy to spend the afternoon at Liz and Drew’s home in Los Angeles for their documentary family photography, capturing their favorite parts of life right now in casual candid in-home portraits. Liz and Bowie have a little afternoon ritual of hanging on the steps, waiting for dad to get home. A little girl time! One of my favorite things about witnessing and capturing Liz and Drew as parents is their balance of total support and love for Bowie while constantly encouraging her to try new things. All of us need a little helping hand, but also need to spread our wings, right? That image above perfectly sums up what I’m talking about in their parenting style. VICTORY! The teepee is MINE. Watch out, Bowie! It’s the tickle monster!!!!! Bahahahahahahahahaha!Bowie knows how to get things done. She jumps in head first. I like her style. A lot. And she loves to dance, like no one is watching. Seriously, such a little character! Mmmmmm…yummy faux sandwich. So gourmet! We migrated from the junior kitchen to real deal. Bowie’s already almost up to the countertops! Time for a little backyard fun!And seriously. Watching someone get this excited about bubbles makes you really want to slow down and appreciate the simple joys in life! **POP!!**One of Bowie’s favorite activities is her myriad of interactive puzzles. She’s so smart! And silly too. I love that she giggles at herself all the time. If that face below doesn’t say “stinker”, I don’t know what does.Oh, those baby blues! Yay! Pinwheels!! Life as a teething one-year-old. Hot. Cold. Happy. Miserable. Poor baby! But you’re still adorbs, Bowie. Well, that seemed to help! 🙂
Portraits in these in-between candid moments, like below, always make me happy! Bowie’s very good at communicating with sign language. She’s so bright! More straws, please! During in-home portraits, we’re often taking photos in the master bedroom. Seems like it’s the hub of life with kids at this age. One of their daily family rituals is storytelling at bedtime. Bowie was so excited to get treated to this in the afternoon! Sometimes Drew gets to work at home, so he has this great office space. Bowie even comes in to help every so often. She seems to really love sitting at mission control! Too. Cool. For. School. **MEEP. MEEP.**“Whoooooooa. No paparazzi!!!”Ha!! Oh, Bowie. Liz, Drew, and Bowie! Thank you for spending the afternoon with me! I just adore you guys and am always excited to have the challenge of keeping up with Bowie 🙂 I’m so thankful for you guys!!
