The day finally arrived for Shannan and Jon’s outdoor nature wedding at the beautiful San Diego Botanic Gardens. We’ve been looking forward to celebrating these two—they really enjoy making each other laugh and they’re seriously the sweetest couple to boot!
May Gray was in full effect that day, but the happiness and joy of these two still shone through. The humidity was off the charts that day, but Shannan’s gals were fanning her to keep her fresh and cool.
Good teamwork, ladies!
With a corset back, Shannan had some time to peer out at the Walled Garden where they would get married in a few hours while her ladies were lacing up the back of her dress.
And finally… The moment was here where these two would see each other for the first time on their day.
The smiles and excitement these two shared was palpable!
We could see them slow down and just take each other in completely.
Overwhelmed and excited bear hug. Straightening his tie. Checking out her train. And spinning her around to get another look. Too much goodness. All things that wouldn’t have happened at the end of the aisle if they had waited to see each other. This is why we love First Looks. 😉
And these two moments? Seriously. I can’t even handle it. Absolutely love how these two slowed down time. It was almost like a time warp. I hope these moments are cemented in their memories forever.
You gotta love how these two transition from that tender moment to laughing and smiling again and then right back into some sweet, intimate time again. Considering they each list the other’s smile and laughter as their favorite things, it makes perfect sense!
Not sure what Jon whispered to Shannan here (we never hear what our couples share there), but it must’ve been good because look at that mischievous smile!
Shannan had told us prior to the wedding that she really felt like she wanted and needed a first look. It seemed as if she took this time to fully drink up every moment, emotion, and memory with Jon. <3
Oh, these two!!
Seriously, nothing but smiles and full body laughter. Don’t they just make you happy??!
We also fully approve of their super goofy side. 🙂
These two love to spend their time outside, whether it’s paddle boarding, golfing, or taking their dog out and about. They absolutely had to have an outdoor al fresca backdrop for their day!
Back to the Walled Garden for the ceremony. Jon’s nieces and nephew did an excellent job as flower girls and ringbearer. Such good kiddos! They were so gracious in handing out petals to guests as they came down the aisle. Pretty much the cutest thing ever.
Sweet and funny moment as Shannan’s dad let go.
Jon seriously could not keep his eyes off of Shannan!
One of those looks that the other knows oh-so-well…
Everyone shared in the laughter alongside them.
You know you’re marrying the right person when all your friends around you watch it happen like this.
Friends are definitely a big part of Shannan and Jon’s story as a couple. They met back in 2006 in college, living in the dorms and studying civil engineering. They’d chat in the hallways, on the way to class, etc. Shannan and Jon didn’t start dating until after college, eight years after they first met (thank you, Facebook!!). Can’t help but wonder if all their friends saw a little spark there long before they realized it.
Is it getting a little hot in here??!
Jon is such a jokester!! And as you can see, it always sends Shannan into serious giggle fits, which is ridiculously entertaining.
And seriously, how cute is her level of excitement?!
Of course, we always love a wedding with Courtney of After the Engagement! Some pretty and fun details from the day! Miho Foodtruck, homemade preserves, and beer koozies? That’s a good day in our book 🙂
First dance as married peeps!!
Love how lost these two get in their own little world!
Some great toasts from their dads. Loved the story Shannan’s dad shared from when Shannan and Jon officially started dating. They had a whirlwind romance and when he began to ask questions, Shannan confidently informed him that she was marrying this guy, without a doubt. Jon got extra points specifically after Shannan saw how he was with his nieces and nephews. <3
Good friends sharing more good stories!
Both Shannan and Jon share such special relationships with their parents. It’s so apparent!
Jon, you get down with yo’ bad self.
Twist and Shout is always a hit!
So many festive Bundt cakes.
We definitely had some dancers in the house that night!
Dear Shannan and Jon, thank you for inviting us to tell your story and share your sweet and fun relationship with us! We love how much you two laugh and play together. Never stop doing that!
