The family that plays together, stays together! 😉
I was so stoked when the Botkins reached out to me last month and described what they had in mind for their session. They really wanted to celebrate and capture the fun they have hanging out together in their backyard playing games, chatting, and laughing while enjoying some good wine and food, surrounded by all the dogs. Sounds perfect to me! So that was where this Day in the Life session began…documentary-style sessions are my favorite way to photograph, especially with a fun and real crowd!
As you can tell, they clearly have NO fun at all together at all.
Not only are they fun, but they are seriously the sweetest group of people! When we photographed Kristina and Brady’s wedding three years ago, we instantly felt right at home with everyone. They’re all so warm and welcoming, and even more than that, they just made us feel like we were part of the family and had been for years. Doing this Day in the Life session with them was just as awesome. And puppies galore!!!! I think we all know this also makes me very very happy. That was probably a mistake letting Mike hold your glass for a moment, Nancy! Teehee!Awwwwwww, come ON!!! Air pumps were in high gear here. Not that ANY of us are competitive, of course… Doggie light test. PERFECT. Thanks, little buddy! One big happy family, two-legged and four-legged members alike! Brady showing off his mad dog Jedi mind tricks. Color me impressed!Mike and Nancy—love seeing how schmoopy you are! Such an adorable couple! And Helen and Glenn have shared a lifetime together and there’s a beautiful, softness in that. Love this sweet little moment I snuck in without them seeing <3 Love the way he looks over at her. So sweet!HA! That look that Helen is giving me above is pretty great. I’m sure I was being hilarious and she just didn’t want to let me know. *snort*
And the Gents! I’ve always loved photographing these Kristina and Brady! They are just totes adorbs and have so much fun together which makes me HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY. And now they have their little fur baby, Emma, in the mix, so extra happy dance for that! Mandy is such a patient, snuggly puppy mama! Her little furballs were lovin’ it! DAWWWWWW!Massive dog family. YES. My kind of people 🙂 Everyone decided a mid-game break from Molkky (lawn game) for beverages and cigars was a good idea. 100% agreed! CHEERS to that!!! They definitely had to bust out the cigars and martinis, as Brady and Mike love to enjoy those together on the patio in front of the fire having some quality bro time. Good times!I WILL NOT THROW KRISTINA UNDER THE BUS ON THE BLOG. I WILL NOT THROW KRISTINA UNDER THE BUS ON THE BLOG.
BUUUUUUUT, I will say that this was an incredibly hilarious and somewhat inappropriate conversation that kind of made my day. NOOOOOOOOOOOOO… I can explain! I was trying to say. *sigh*Oh, I give up. Emma understands. *snicker*And how can you not adore a big lovable lab falling asleep on your foot at the end of a session?!
Thank you, Botkin crew, for being the lovely, life-lovin’, warm, and amazing family I remember you being and openingly sharing your life with me for the afternoon. I just loved being there with you and documenting the joy in your Vida. And next time, I’m definitely taking you up on drinks and dinner in the backyard! 🙂
Wishing you all the most beautiful times ahead and lots of good fun and even more memories in that oasis of a backyard! Friends and family of the Botkins—be sure to sign their gallery guestbook to be kept up to date on the release of the collection of images as well as print specials!
