mary & chris’ engagement session | east village and coronado

We have made so many friends over the years by connecting deeply with our couples. Really connecting. Not just shooting the wedding, but also hanging out for a cup of coffee or perhaps a glass of wine here or there. We are still good friends with our couples long after the big day! What is really cool about Mary and Chris is that fact that we have already known them for MANY years. When they asked us to be their wedding photographers, we were so honored.:)

As usual, we talked with Mary and Chris before their engagement shoot about what they love to do together. What their relationship means to them. What makes them feel “right at home”. The first answer they came up with?

Bowling.:D

Chris lives down in East Village, so one of their favorite spots to bowl is the East Village Tavern and Bowl. In the evening, you are LUCKY to get a lane unless you wait for a few hours, but at 12 noon on a weekday? We had the lanes all to ourselves for some fun! If you haven’t been here, you are missing out. Fun place, great grub, local microbrews, bowling, and killer music playing.

Mary: “Look at me! I’m cute!”

Chris: “Yeah yeah. Roll your ball so we can make out some more!”

(I don’t think they actually said that. I just love Chris’ facial expression in this one. Hee hee!)

BOOOOOOOO-YAAAAAAAAAAA! I believe that’s the CHAINSAW!

This is what we love about these two…they just make each other laugh constantly!!

And they’re so sweet with each other…

After a great time in the bowling alley, we trekked on over to the Omni Hotel (across the street from the Hard Rock Hotel) to utilize the rad walkway between the Omni and PetCo Park. The last time we shot there, it was during the Rugby matches down here in San Diego…it was much easier this time.:)

We also love the escalators at the Omni because the light just pours in from the huge bay window. Lovely!

It was time to move onto our next location…the ferry landing down in Coronado. We cruised along the beach area for awhile, waiting until the sun went down. This part of town is really special to Mary and Chris. They just snugged up and soaked it all in.

Boy falls for girl. Girl falls for boy. Boy plays guitar. Girl swoons. Beginning of story…

Mary and Chris also shared their special spot overlooking the San Diego skyline with us. This is where Chris popped the question and played some sweet tunes for Mary on that guitar of his. Music is a BIG part of their relationship and something they love to share with each other. These things make us happy:)

LOVE this!!!

And please don’t hate on us for posting this…but we couldn’t resist!!! ROCK ON, you two, ROCK ON!

Mary and Chris, we love you guys dearly as individuals and exponentially as a couple. We’re so glad you found each other in this crazy world and it’s so clear that you are totally meant for each other. We can’t wait to capture you two as you tie the knot this year!!!  XOXOXO
