“Let’s do a fun shoot together down at the Hard Rock Hotel!!”
Michelle Gilmore from Lipstick and Luster, one of San Diego’s finest make-up artists, really wanted to do a collaborative shoot with us to showcase her talents, as well as several other awesome San Diego artists. Of COURSE we said yes!
We had so much fun with Michelle during our shoot with Brenda Swann and her ever-so-talented “Swann Squad” last December, and we were honored to shoot for her again at the Hard Rock! Joining us on that day was Geraldine Bogle to help with hairstyling, Cecilia Escobar (Cecilia Escobar Projects) who acted as both model and clothing stylist, and Erin who also modeled for us. Erin actually works at the Hard Rock, and she is not a professional model. But you know what? She TOTALLY SHOULD BE.We started with Erin down in 207, a gorgeous bar/lounge right at the entrance of the Hard Rock.
The staff at 207 (and really everywhere in the Hard Rock) was so nice and friendly! Michelle has a few connections within the beautiful hotel, so we had permission to shoot in quite a few cool places that we would not normally be able to utilize. The bartender even made up a quick cocktail prop for us! Twist of lemon anyone?
The staircase leading up to the second floor and conference area created a really cool lighting situation. With our umbrella overhead (and bouncing off the side wall) and the stairs all lit up and cool-looking, we were able to get some pretty cool shots here!
Remember that I mentioned Michelle was able to hook us up with fun places to shoot? Well, we brought Erin up to Float, the award-winning rooftop bar at the Hard Rock for some fun in the sun as well as some relaxed cabana-time. Not a model Erin? Yeah right.ROCK it sister!

Well, Erin had a lot of fun getting her fashion on, but now it was Cecilia’s turn! Cecilia has worked in the fashion industry for quite some time as a clothing stylist and consultant. Her designs were just recently featured on the cover of San Diego Magazine! Now she is also not a “professional” model, but as you can see below, she is absolutely stunning. Cecilia was SO much fun to work/play with!
We shot a few looks for Cecilia down in the V.I.P room behind the front lobby. That’s right…V.I.P. ROOM!
Yep. That’s my Fender. Nope. I can’t play it particularly well. I think that Cecilia looks much cuter playing it, don’t you?
What a wonderful shoot! It’s always so great to get the creative juices flowing and JUST. SHOOT. Thank you ladies for a great time, and we truly look forward to doing it again very soon!
