Heather and Dave’s big day had finally come, and we couldn’t be happier for these guys!
They chose the Palos Verdes Country Club for their wedding up in Los Angeles, and it was an absolutely perfect day… sunny, but not too hot or windy. Glorious!
Dave got ready with his “dudes” at the country club as well. Jimmy was Dave’s Best Man… you may remember Jimmy and his lovely bride, Christy, from their wedding in Point Loma, and their reception at The Thursday Club (where Betsy and I were married!) as well as their cute engagement session in Balboa park with their awesome dogs! So nice to see previous La Vida Couples hanging out with current ones!![]()
Heather is absolutely adorable every day, but when she put that dress on… wow.
While I was having a little fun with Dave, I could tell that he was completely bursting with anticipation of seeing his bride-to-be for their First Look. Dude was grinning ear to ear the whole time!
We were able to find a very secluded spot, with very pretty light and cool arches for their First Look. A perfect hiding place for Heather and Dave to really relax and enjoy the moment for themselves!
They spent most of their First Look time laughing with each other, as they do.![]()
Betsy loves big wooden doors. Because they’re cool.![]()
This one *may* require a little explanation.
Heather and Dave have a photobooth strip of them making silly faces (don’t we all?), so we had them recreate the strip to the best of their abilities… it was totally hilarious as Dave was directing Heather to achieve the same looks they made. I smell a wedding album cover here.![]()
Heather’s dad was so blown away when he saw his little girl in her dress. LOVE these moments!
Heather’s brother had a HUGE responsibility on the wedding day. His task was to drive their family’s vintage Vespa, which originally belonged to their grandfather, down to the Country Club for a picture or two. Sounds easy, right? Well it was, until Dave got the call while he was getting ready that the Vespa had broken down on the way. D’oh! A tow truck was called to haul it down to the Country Club, but after a bit of fiddling with the spark plugs, her brother was able to get it restarted and was on his way. Thank goodness! You all know how much we adore Vespas, and we were so happy that this little beauty made it on time. Yay!
Dave is actually a professional graphic designer at the esteemed Terranea Resort in Palos Verdes, so all their printed pieces and letterpress work were very well-done, super fun, and personalized!
Last steps as a single woman… Very cool how Heather walked part of the way independently, then joined her parents for the final walk down the aisle.
Mazel tov!
Heather and Dave had several important people for their readings, and it was nice to see all of them come up at once so that the happy couple could really take it all in. So special!
Heather and Dave had cocktail hour before the ceremony, so they walked straight from the ceremony into the reception for the first dance, surrounded by their loved ones.
Dave is not having fun. Nope. None. No fun at all.![]()
I love the chair dance part of the Hora (when there is enough ceiling height, of course). Actually, what I *really* love is the awesome facial expressions from the bride and groom as they are lifted up in the air!
During “Hava Nagila”, I worked my way into the middle of the circle (not an easy task) so that I could get this shot of Heather’s parents having a blast. Betsy (who was getting the overall shot of the dance) overheard one of the guests on the outside of the ring say: “Oh no! The other photographer just got trapped inside the circle!” Right. Where. I Wanted. To. Be.![]()
Love these moments with their parents!
Jimmy was his normal hilarious self during his Best Man toast. He told me later how nervous he was. Not sure why… he totally killed it!
Another one of our couples who met playing co-ed football, and as you see… they DEFINITELY have fun together!!![]()
We love a great dance floor, especially when a live band is playing! The Blue Note Band did an EXCELLENT job of keeping everybody hopping!
Thanks, Heather and Dave, for being such a cool couple! Congratulations on your marriage, and we can’t wait to hear all about Fiji!
