Aww! Puppy Love!
That’s the title of the adorable cartoon book that Jacob designed himself for his lovely bride-to-be when he asked her to marry him. We were able to see the book in person during their incredibly fun engagement session up in Del Mar, and they were nice enough to send us a direct link of it as well: the online version of “Puppy Love”.
An absolutely lovely couple inside and out, Erika and Jacob finally grabbed their chance to say “I Do” in front of all their friends and family up in Montrose (near Pasadena) last weekend. Betsy and I started our journey with them for their First Look at the Crescenta Valley Park, right down the street from their church.
“That look when you realize you are marrying your best friend today.”
Jacob, doing his little turn on the catwalk…
…yeah, on the catwalk.![]()
OK, so this is adorable…
Erika had made a construction paper chain to count down the days to their wedding, and they did not get the chance to break the final rings apart. Jacob secretly brought the final two links to their First Look so that his lady could finish the job. So sweet!
“Wheeeeeeeeeeee!” *giggle*
We did photos at this park because it’s a very special place for the two of them. And this tree is even more special. Jacob popped the question on that very spot!
Erika… you should know that this is how Jacob looks over at you all the time…
What a good-looking pair these two are—and so much SASS!!!
Erika and Jacob’s bridal party were not only on time (early, in fact) for their photos, they were SO VERY patient and understanding as we got through all the shots that the bride and groom wanted to have! Really cool group.![]()
It was also so nice to see our good buddy, Lizzy, as one of Erika’s bridesmaids! She’s the tall brunette who Erika is facing. We’ve gotten to know Lizzy through a variety of events with Pictage over the years, and we love her to pieces.
She also has a LOVELY singing voice, and she sang for Erika and Jacob during the ceremony!
Riverdance begins in 3…….2……..1………
Are those bridesmaids pretending actually licking their bouquets?!? Yes. Yes they are.
There were little fake lollipops nestled within their flowers to tie in with the “carnival” theme at the reception. We’ll get to that later.
Both Erika and Jacob’s dads are pastors, and they both helped to perform the ceremony for their kids. Erika’s dad, in particular, was quite emotional… walking his little girl down the aisle, talking about how Erika grew up within this church, adding a boy to the family… so awesome.
Such a sweet moment during the ceremony.
WE DID IT!!!
So I mentioned that Erika and Jacob had a “carnival” theme for their reception… no rides or anything (that would be a little weird in the church parking lot), but they *did* have a popcorn machine, snowcone maker, and lots of yummy food served on light pastel-covered tablecloths and accents. What a great idea! Their families and friends helped out enormously to bring this design together, and even Cody (a previous La Vida Groom) added his artistic talents to the day!
It was also so nice to see him and his lovely wife Joanna! Many of the über talented crew that created the signature details, look and feel to their wedding had their hands involved with this one too. It takes a village…
Chevron stripes GALORE! So festive and cheerful! See the lollipops?![]()
We love to see all the guests reacting to toasts and well-wishes!
Tee hee!
My name is Jim. I am Jacob’s Dad. Here is my name. I MADE THE LIST!!![]()
Um, how amazing is this awesome chalkboard?!
