They met for the first time at the Los Angeles Film Studies Center, where Erika found herself laughing with Jacob about many things, including lame infomercials and the fact that she was consistently waking him up during his frequent “classroom naps.” Ever since, they have shared a common love for each other, Pixar animation, video games, and other forms of silly fun.![]()
We met up with Erika and Jacob up in Del Mar for some fun portraits as well as a round of mini-golf, one of their fave activities to do together!
It really wasn’t that hard to get these two to have a little fun for our cameras. They opened up to us immediately (which didn’t shock us, as our first meeting together lasted 3 hours, talking about literally everything under the sun!). We absolutely love it when our couples just “let go” and enjoying just being themselves and having fun with each other for a few hours while we document their love.![]()
Erika and Jacob love to tease each other. A lot! One sign of a great relationship (in my opinion) is the ability to keep your significant other on their toes without overstepping that “line.” If you’ve ever watched Betsy and I interact with each other, you’ll know what I mean. These guys totally have it down to a science! Usually, the gentle ribbing is designed to make the other one crack up with laughter.![]()
Erika’s facial expressions are so adorable and meaningful! Whether it’s a quick glance of “I love you” to Jacob, or “Wow. Lame joke, man”, her eyes just sparkle for him.![]()
Ah yes. The famous cowboy of Del Mar. I wonder how many passersby stop to take a picture with him, or even steal kisses. Hee hee!![]()
As their relationship bloomed from halfway across the country, they both realized pretty quickly that they were made for each other: Erika and Jacob have so many things in common, and they really “click”, you know?
When Jacob knew that he was destined to marry Erika, he went to work on an animated story of his own, called “Puppy Love”. In this cute little hardbound book, Jacob sketched his love for Erika, and in the latter part of the book, he (a puppy) got down on one knee (paw) and offered Erika (the other puppy) a ring. Jacob had Erika read the story back to him during a picnic that they enjoyed together (along with some Panera soup and a couple of Capri Suns.
When she got to the part of the story with the proposal, she looked up and found the love of her life down on one knee as well. So sweet! Here is a link to the online version of “Puppy Love”… read it, it’s awesome and they were so kind to let us share the link with you to see for yourself!![]()
Enjoying some quiet time on a nice lawn near L’Auberge.
They both absolutely ADORE Pixar films. While they certainly have favorites (Erica’s is “Ratatouille”, Jacob’s is “Monsters Inc.”), all of the movies hold a special place in their hearts and it’s something they really enjoy together.
On to some fun at Pelly’s Golf Center in Del Mar!
Erika and Jacob love to find fun things to do together—Mini Golf is to these guys as Bocce is to us!
Pelly’s Mini Golf is a really cool course (well, two actually) that showcase fun oceanography facts and education while you are playing. Fun!
We didn’t quite understand why there was a steel cage in the middle of one of the holes, but that didn’t stop us from playing around in it.![]()
Jacob’s shirt totally reminds me of that Facebook photo that cruised around the interwebs… it was a picture of a kid in a Batman outfit with this caption:
The most important thing in life is to be yourself.
Unless you can be Batman.Always be Batman.
Jacob is Erika’s Batman.![]()
One of the holes that caught our eye was almost completely enclosed by a plaster overhead wave that had a waterfall streaming from the top. It was really cool! Betsy and I MUST come back up and play this course sometime this summer.![]()
YAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRR!
HAD to shoot with the pirate ship.
Erika and Jacob, you two are beautiful together. We have really appreciated the way you have let us in to your lives. Thank you for sharing your history with us, and we look forward to sharing your future as husband and wife too!
