We’ve been looking forward to Eeva and Edgar’s Downtown wedding for more than a year, and we were so thrilled with their day!
Edgar is a professional DJ down here in San Diego, and Eeva runs a yoga studio up in Mira Mesa. We had the pleasure of photographing these two down in Old Town and Little Italy awhile ago and were definitely looking forward to capturing all things Eeva and Edgar! From Edgar’s hearty laugh and smile, to Eeva’s demure and sweet disposition, these two really know how to share each others’ joy! Definitely made for each other!![]()
We began their day right at the First Look. This was a bit challenging, as ComicCon was in full force during the day of their wedding. So we found a street that contained little to no zombie population and let them do their thing!
And don’t you already just absolutely LOVE these two? This is how the first minute of their First Look played out. Edgar was absolutely beside himself when he turned and saw his bride.
There were plenty of tears (and laughs) as they soaked in each others’ love.
Pure joy and emotion. These two just get lost in each other and it is a great thing to witness![]()
Of course, we had to take advantage of all the pretty colors and textures that can be found in East Village!
We tried really hard to make sure their day was NOT about ComicCon. They had booked their venue (The Ultimate Skybox at Diamond View Tower) nearly 1 1/2 years ago, and chose their date so as not to coincide with ComicCon. And of COURSE the producers of ComicCon just HAD to move the date up to the same weekend as their wedding. Gah!![]()
So we focused on quiet areas for the most part, but it was absolutely necessary to get JUST ONE shot that represented the ComicCon experience.
So here is a Zombie, that I persuaded to shamble along the back of the bridal party. GRrraaraAAArrarrgggGGhhHHH…. BRAAAAAAAINS…. BRIDESMAAAAAAAAAAIDS…
The Zombie Apocalypse was thankfully short-lived, and everyone survived.![]()
And now… on to the ceremony!
Gotta love a couple who gets married all the way at the top of Diamond View Terrace. Such a unique and distinctly urban place! Edgar and Eeva’s ceremony was (as anticipated) full of emotion, smiles, and tears. Sometimes it’s hard for us not to well up during an emotional ceremony. This was definitely one of those times. :’-)
YAY!!! MARRIED!!!!!!
Everyone present was so totally excited to see these two tie the knot. Lots of cheering and enthusiasm for who they are together. **love**
If anyone was walking downtown last Saturday and heard a jovial belt of laughter, it was probably Edgar.![]()
Lots of really talented people at their wedding! Eeva’s brother gave a very deep and meaningful speech, followed up with a BEAUTIFUL guitar composition, and topped with a hearty “Sköll”!
Oh. Then there’s THIS guy!
Edgar’s entire family is known by all in attendance that they are very passionate (and extraordinarily talented) people. Edgar’s brother serenaded the happy couple with a killer R&B song (very reminiscent of Boys II Men). I *wish* I could tell you which song, but we were VERY focused on capturing this awesome moment (along with the uproar from the guests)!!
The dances between Eeva and her brother, as well as Edgar with his mom were (have I said this enough?) VERY emotional and touching.![]()
And love this moment shared between Eeva, Jose, and their mom right afterwards. So sweet!
Twilight time!
The perfect way to capture the gorgeous view from the SkyBox.
Their Money Dance was one of the funniest ones we’ve ever had the pleasure to photograph! One of the guests came up to Edgar, gave him a handful of change, and both laughed hysterically!
That same guest came back up two more times later in the dance: once to place a credit card in Edgar’s “money crown”, and a second time to replace the credit card with a Costco card! HA! Classic.![]()
As you can probably imagine, when a DJ gets married, the dance floor is usually HUGE, and Edgar & Eeva’s dance floor was no exception!
OHHHHHHHHHH SNNNNAAAAAP!
Remember Pam and Julian? They are one of our fave La Vida Couples who tied the knot back in 2010 (check out their wedding and engagement shoots!) They are good friends with Eeva and Edgar, and we were delighted to see them at the wedding! We also enjoyed a nice brunch with them the next day, before they headed back up to Mammoth Lakes. Here’s Julian “struttin’ the floor”. Such the character![]()
Get on DOWN with your bad self, Edgar!
