Say “Congrats” to Edita and Matt!
We had a wonderful time getting to know this fun La Vida Couple during their engagement session up at Wiens Family Cellars in Temecula wine country last week, and we are so happy to be shooting their wedding in September at the glorious Westgate Hotel in downtown San Diego!
Matt proposed to Edita during a trip to Napa Valley, so it made perfect sense to continue their love story at one of our favorite local wineries, Wiens. Since Betsy and I have been members of Wiens for quite a long time, they were happy to let us into the barrel room for a few portraits before we hit the vines.
Actually, before the session started, Edita and Matt were interested in trying out one of Wiens’ big reds. We selected the 2010 Crowded, which is a great meritage with six different grapes. We love the Crowded because it can pair with a large variety of foods.
Here are the Winemaker’s Notes:
This Crowded blend is high in Zinfandel, with expressive jammy and raisin muffin notes. The Barbera and Sangio[vese] add a spicy Italian-style flair, the Pinot [Noir] throws in a little strawberry, and the Syrah & Petite [Sirah] round out structure and extend the finish.
Delicious! (sadly, we couldn’t have any that day…wine and camera focus rarely go hand-in-hand)
It was so nice to have the barrel room all to ourselves! It really allowed Matt and Edita the chance to unwind, relax, and enjoy each others’ company during the shoot.
Off to the vines!
The staff at Wiens gave us full reign to shoot anywhere on the property, so the four of us took a nice little walk through the vineyard itself. Matt and Edita had a great time playing around, walking side by side, and chatting about their upcoming wedding while we followed them around with our trusty Nikons.
Such a sweet moment! Awww.
It’s always fun to have one half of the couple behind the camera to make the other half laugh and smile. Hee hee! Matt and Edita definitely figured that one out quickly!
GOTCHA!!
At one point during their walk, Matt begged Edita to “do that thing you do sometimes while we walk together!” Edita kept saying: “No, no, no! I’m not going to do it! Let it go!”
We were SO intrigued as to what that “thing” was, but we certainly were not going to press her about it (much). Matt kept going on and on about it, and then suddenly, Edita jumped sideways, clicked her heels together, and came back down. Yep… that’s her “thing”! I love how in this image, Edita looks like she is just joyously floating alongside her man as they walked together. And might I add… GOOD FORM!!
Speaking of good form—how about that Hollywood Dip?!
Edita and Matt, we are so anxious to join you on your big day at the Westgate! The ceremony and reception are going to be spectacular!
