edita + matt’s wedding | the westgate hotel, downtown san diego

We just love it when brides and grooms are RIDICULOUSLY excited to get married!! Edita and Matt were just all smiles on their big day last week over at the luxurious Westgate Hotel in the heart of the Gaslamp District of downtown San Diego.

As Edita was gettin’ prettified with her sister and mother, Matt was hanging out with his brothers in a room near the ceremony area. They had a great time enjoying some wine, discussing the cool details on the walls, and even chatting with their sister and nephew via Skype, who were unable to attend.

Edita was just absolutely GLOWING with excitement.

The Riviera Terrace served as a PERFECT spot for their First Look. These two are so sweet with one another and were super excited to see each other for the first time on their wedding day.

Edita was so thrilled to show off her gorgeous gown to her hubby-to-be!

We think Edita is absolutely adorable… her smile, her laugh, and just the way she talks about the things that she loves!

LOVE how Matt is looking so deeply into her eyes!

This is little Beto, the son of Matt’s close friends. He did a great job during the ceremony once he was done SPRINTING down the aisle! In fact, Beto was pretty much sprinting throughout the entire day. I would love to be able to bottle up his energy.:)

Matt was smiling, laughing, and tearing up a bit during the ceremony. Best day of his life. Does this guy look like he’s ready to get married, or what?!

Betsy and I love shooting weddings when we have a space behind the bride and groom. I really like to hide out behind a column or tree (in this case, a large piano) so that I can grab shots like these.:)

MARRIED!!!

Off to cocktail hour to spend a little time with their friends and family!

“Mommy! Look what I can do!”

In lieu of a huge reception, Edita and Matt chose to spend their newly-wedded bliss by sharing an intimate dinner (featuring a cool live jazz band) with their friends and family. The Westgate Hotel has perfect spaces for such an occasion!

Of course, Edita and Matt wanted to break away for just a bit to shoot around this lovely hotel. Which of course makes us very happy to have a little more time with them!

Once we got back from our venture around the Westgate, Edita and Matt had two fun games in store for their guests. The first was a version of the “Anniversary Dance”, where the married couples in the room were singled out, then separated by the length of time they were married to find the longest marriage in the room. Next was a version of The Newlywed Game, where Matt and Edita were asked a series of questions (that they had no knowledge of) to see if they could agree. They were each given a blue candle (representing Matt) and a white candle (Edita). As the questions were asked (e.g. Who is more likely to…), they each held up the candle that they think fits the bill. Check out Edita’s confidence as she raised that blue candle!:)

The guests LOVED it.:)

You know what’s better than having your couples ask you to take more cool images of them around the site? When the bride asks for EVEN MORE of just herself with her dress! The three of us had a blast cruising around, looking for some classic portraiture. Doesn’t Edita look like a ballerina? Just absolutely classic and beautiful!!

Edita and Matt: Ever since we had some fun up in Temecula for your Engagement Session, we knew that your wedding was going to be a lot of fun! We were so happy to see you smiling so much on your big day and just taking in every moment! Congrats again and we hope your Europe/Russia honeymoon is amazing!!
